GS1 128 (UCC/EAN-128) is a continuous, self-checking and bi-directionally decodable linear bar code symbology which was developed to provide a worldwide format and standard for exchanging common data between companies by encoding data and encoding what that data represents. It identifies data with Application Identifiers (AI). GS1 128 is widely used in trade item data for logistics units such as cartons, cases, pallets, and returnable assets.
