Codabar Barcode Features

Encodable Chars

Codabar can encode the numbers through 0 to 9, six symbols including - $ : / . +, as well as four start/stop characters A,B,C,D.
In some specifications, E, N, T and asterisk are used to mark the beginning and end of the barcode, but are not part of the Codabar string.

Checksum Digit

Codabar is self-checking with no established checksum, but some industries require implementing checksum with their own standard for additional security.

Seperating Space

Since the each character begins and ends with a bar, a narrow space is appended after each character to separate two characters.

To set the size of Codabar, two things are of importance, i.e. the X Dimension and the barcode width.
