EAN-8 Barcode Introduction, Generate & Create EAN-8 in .NET, ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET

EAN-8 barcode is implemented by the International Article Numbering Association (EAN). It is a continuous, self-checking, numeric-only, and omni-directionally decodable barcode symbology with a mandatory check digit. EAN-8 is generally used for marking small packages where space is restricted.

Encodable Chars

EAN-8 can encode numeric digits 0 to 9 including a checksum digit.

Checksum Digit

EAN-8 is character self-checking, similar to EAN-13, a mandatory modulo 10 check digit need to be added, which will be calculated by Avapose products automatically.

Components

First two digits represent Number System, the following five digits Product Code, and then the Check Digit.

Add-on Symbols

A two-digit or five-digit add-on symbol can be added to encode supplementary information.
