Code 128 Barcode FAQ in Word
Code 128 for Word is a powerful and visual barcode plug-in which helps you create highest possible quality into Word document. With this add-in, to generate and insert PDF 417 barcodes on Word documents can be an easy task for users. Multiple barcode related properties as well as some special parameters are customizable like tilde applying, rotation angle, image width, etc.

Code 128 Data Encoding in Word
According to the industry standards of Code 128, the following Code 128 subtypes, characters and data length are acceptable by this add-in:
Code 128 Encodable Characters:
  • Standard ASCII values: 0-128
  • Extended ASCII Values: 128-255
Code 128 Valid Data Length:
  • Variable data length
Code 128 encoding data can be influenced by those following factors:
  • Apply tilde --- Tilde character (~).When enabled, the tilde character (~) is used to encode GS1 Application Identifiers, specific ASCII characters.
  • data --- The data to be encoded. This property lets you encode desired data.
  • barcode type --- Barcode types could be changed by setting this property, default value is Code 128.

Encode Code 128 Data using Word Barcode Add-In

  1. Barcode Add-In for Word needs to be downloaded and installed at first;
  2. Install this barcode generator on your Word;
  3. Activate the add-in select the proper Code 128 barcode type in the "barcode type" pull-down list. If you are not sure which one is your needed one, you may select "Code 128Auto";
  4. Input the data to be encoded like "Word-Code 128" in the "data" box;
  5. Customize the properties that are required and click "Generate" to display the created Code 128 barcode.
Code 128 Image Customization in Word
Code 128 image is customizable by setting the following parameters:
  • Apply tilde --- Enable it to use the tilde character for specifying the special characters in the data to be encoded.
  • Display checksum char --- Determine whether to display the last check sum character (s) in the barcode text.
  • Font --- Adjust the font style of the barcode text under image.
  • Display barcode data --- For displaying the human readable interpretation or not.
  • Rotate --- Set the rotation angle into 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees.
  1. Select the generated Code 128 barcodes;
  2. Choose to enable or disenable "Add checksum char", "Apply tilde", "Display barcode data";
  3. Set the rotation angle of the barcode image into any valid angle like "180";
  4. Customize "Font" into your needed style and adjust other properties like "Times New Roman; Regular; 11";
  5. Click "Update" where "Generate" is located at last.
Code 128 Size Adjustment in Word
There may be some consideration on Code 128 size on Word documents, therefore, the following options are provided:
  • Bar width (X) --- The width value of the barcode narrowest bar module (X).
  • Bar height (Y) --- The height value of the bar.
  • Image width --- The width value of whole barcode image.
  • Image height --- The height value of the whole barcode image.
  • Left margin --- The value of the left margin.
  • Right margin --- The value of the right margin.
  • Bottom margin --- The value of the bottom margin.
  • Top margin --- The value of the top margin.

  1. Select the generated Code 128 barcodes;

  3. Select a proper style for "Font" to adjust the text interpretation of Code 128 like "Times New Roman; Regular; 11";
