Data Matrix, one of two-dimensional barcode types, is made up of nominally square modules arranged within a perimeter finder pattern and is widely used for marking small items. In addition, though primarily shown and described in this International Standard as a dark symbol on light background, Data Matrix symbols can also be printed to appear as light on dark.
Data Matrix Valid Encoding Characters:

Requirements:

The following should be installed before you use and implement Excel Data Matrix Add-In:
  • Microsoft Office 2007 PIA
  • .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
  • Windows Installer 3.1
  • VSTO 3.0 Runtime SP1
  • Avapose.Barcode for Excel

Generate a Single Data Matrix on Excel

  1. Start an Excel spreadsheet and activate Excel Barcode Add-In by clicking "Create Barcode" under "Add-Ins" tab;
  2. Select a certain cell and choose "DATA MATRIX" in the "barcode type" pull-down list;
  3. Select "Data mode" if needed or keep the default value "Auto";
  4. Input data that you need in the "data" box, like "Excel-Data-Matrix";
  5. Adjust the parameters that are required like "Bar alignment", "Bar height", "Format mode", "Rotate", etc;
  6. Display the generated Data Matrix image on Excel by clicking "Generate".
For the generated Data Matrix, you can adjust the parameters that you need and click "Update". Alternatively, you can delete the barcode by clicking "Delete" button and generate a new one.

Create Data Matrix Lists on Excel

  1. Start the Excel Barcode Add-In and select a list of cells;
  2. Choose "DATA MATRIX" in the "barcode type" pull-down list and input the data to be encoded;
  3. Customize the parameters that you need like "Bar alignment", "Bar height", "Format mode", "Data mode", etc;
  4. Click "Generate" and a list of Data Matrix barcodes appear on Excel as required.

Link a Data Matrix to a Certain Cell on Excel

A generated Data Matrix barcode can update automatically with the content of the linked cell after you do as follows:
  1. Select the generated Data Matrix and click "link to cell";
  2. Select the target cell with data on Excel;
  3. Click "Update" where "link to cell" button is located;
  4. The generated Data Matrix is dynamically linked to the target cell.
